Position Title
Neurodiagnostic Assistant (NDA) Part-time or PRN
Part-time Hourly Rate PRN
$20.00 to $26.00 On-call pay at $5.00/hr and hourly rate if called in for set up/take down
Position Summary
A Neurodiagnostic Assistant (NDA) works under the direction of a registered EEG technologist to perform customer services focusing on providing culturally sensitive care to all Alaskans. The Neurodiagnostic Assistant will be trained under direct supervision of registered EEG technologists. Upon completion of training, and all required institution competencies have been achieved; the Neurodiagnostic Assistant will receive a certification from ASET. This position will demonstrate competence in areas of critical thinking, professionalism, and technical skills; to preform restorative care in addition to surveillance and basic interpretation of various physiological monitoring for inpatients and/or outpatients. Essential Job Functions
-Establishing communication with the assigned remote Registered EEG Technologist
-Ensuring EEG equipment is on and connected to internet/WiFi for remote access
-Administering placement of electrodes using the international 10-20 system
-Assisting with Electroencephalograph by monitoring patients at bedside
-Preforming electrode replacements and/or troubleshooting loose electrode connections
-Assuring brain waveform recordings are free of artifacts and equipment software is programmed with precision for the assigned patient
-Reporting all observed patient concerns and changes in condition to nurses and/or R. EEG T.
-Preforming minor maintenance and cleaning of equipment, bed rails, pads and restocking supplies as needed
-Preforming ambulation, photic stimulation, hyperventilation, and cognitive assessments to provoke a neurologic response of the EEG patients
-At the conclusion of data collection, disconnecting patients from the electrodes, cleaning and removing equipment and bed rail pads
-Must be able to preform the professional, clinical, and technical competencies of the assigned unit or clinic
Position Title
Remote Registered EEG Technologist PRN
Hourly Rate
$30.00 to $35.00
Position Summary
Remote Registered EEG Technologists will operate independently by connecting remotely (at pre-scheduled times) to conduct routine 41-60 minute vEEGs; intermittently monitoring multiple EEG studies, (detecting EEG abnormalities) and notifying the oversight neurologist(s) and/or the designated health care team of their findings. The remote EEG technologist will also: analyze patient EEG recordings (real-time and previous data history), annotate the record, Guide a Neurodiagnostics Assistant (NDA) through eliminating artifacts, equipment artifacts, and troubleshooting - and any other actions typical in normal course of EEG monitoring.
All Remote Registered EEG Technologists must demonstrate knowledge of normal and abnormal adult, pediatric, and neonatal EEG patterns.
Essential Job Functions
-Competence in deciphering artifacts from cortical activity
-Experienced in conducting a routine vEEG remotely; including hyperventilation, (unless deemed otherwise due to contraindications) photic stimulation, cognitive questions, eye open/closed
-Troubleshooting; guiding the NDA or patient of eliminating possible environmental artifacts, equipment, or internet/Bluetooth connections
-Documents appropriately to meet industry standards
-Excellent computer skills and comfortable with technology
-Professional demeanor, able to interact well with hospital staffs, neurologists, neurodiagnostics assistants, and other remote technologists
Qualifications
-Must be ABRET board-certified (R.EEG T.) CLMT preferred
-Minimum of 5 years EEG experience including 2 years of long-term monitoring (cEEG) experience in ICU, PICU, NICU EEG monitoring
-Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the neurological system
-Knowledge and experience with HIPAA and have a secure, compliant workspace that is free from unauthorized viewing
-Knowledge of Nihon Kohden and Lifelines
-Reliable high-speed internet and cell phone coverage required
